I was at Frankston Hospital today. A deaf person had many issues there and the hospital were ignoring her complaints, but when I contacted them, the senior management responded quickly and met with us. We were able to get them to make changes to improve the hospital and we will continue to work ...with them. If you need support for your bad hospital experiences, contact us!

17th Sign of the Times 2026 presenter reveal: Irene Holub ✨
Irene is a Deaf CALD multidisciplinary artist, yogini, filmmaker, therapist, advocate and founder of Auslansoul whose work explores human connection through Deaf culture, deaf spaces and lived experience. Grounded in disability ...justice and “nothing about us without us,” she champions Deaf leadership, arts and community wellbeing.
We look forward to her presentation, "What gets you out of bed in the morning?"
What gets you out of bed in the morning? Alarm clock, breakfast, work, kids, duties, etc - we have many reasons. Yet when do we follow our inner self to trust, initiate, and lead ourselves? What is the inner self, and why is this so important, especially in our current world of distractions and influences? In this presentation, Irene will talk about the power of connecting with our inner selves.

🧡 Happy Valentines Day from Deaf Victoria ❤️
Relationships can be hard to understand and manage. We’ve also seen that there aren’t many well-known resources in the Deaf community about how to recognise unhealthy relationships, how to leave them safely, or what healthy ...relationships should look like. Deaf people and people with disability are also at higher risk of experiencing abuse than hearing, able‑bodied people.
That’s why we have created a new page with deaf-friendly information and resources to help you learn about these topics.

The next state election for Victoria will be in November 2026. The Victorian Parliament is now inviting people with disability to tell them about their experience at voting centres for state elections. What worked well, what didn't, and what could be improved? They are interested in ...understanding:
1. What assistance should staff offer people with disability?
2. What should be considered when choosing venues for voting?
3. How else can voting centres be made more accessible?
You can send a written submission or video recording via the link in our bio
Submissions close on 20th of February.
